NOMAD LUXE

The T Magazine editorial Going Places is a fashion story told by stylist David Vandewal and photographer Mark Segal. Imagine carrying all that you love: your favourite clothes, most treasured jewelry… Wear it all at once! You’re forced to take the streets and wander on as a glamour bum.

These women are outfitted fashion nomads, travelling the world wearing souvenirs on their sleeves. A mass collection of classics and trends, each look easily adds up to over $10,000. Pretty outrageous. Definitely fabulous.

KILLZ 4 FASHION

Anna Wintour is the British-born editor-in-chief of American Vogue, a position she has held since 1988. With her trademark pageboy bob haircut and sunglasses, Wintour has become an institution throughout the fashion world. Her reportedly aloof and demanding personality has earned her the nickname “Nuclear Wintour”….

Meryl Streep’s character “Miranda Priestly” in the 2006 movie, “The Devil Wear’s Prada”, was loosley based on Anna Wintour.

Speaking of Anna, I saw this picture while surfing the interweb… Low and behold it’s a Christopher Lee Suave creation!!

Ofcourse it would be…  Say hello to ‘CHEANNA’

As I then was redirected to cheanna.com, to find this manifesto:

STYLE TO THE PEOPLE…
“This is a call to revolution to return style to its rightful place in society. We must unite to advance sartorial consciousness towards individuality and away from oppressive fashion imperialism. Go forward with your eyes on the future, communicate it, live it, love it, spread it. It is your duty, it is your obligation as a loyal follower of fashion to bring STYLE TO THE PEOPLE.”

HAHAHAHAHAH!!! WOW!

BLOW UP FASHION

Every big city worth visiting has a “tour street” complete with souvenir shops, way over priced food, and lost talents performing for your pennies. On each walk, there’s a pretty generic street performer who makes an act out of bending balloons into animals, hats, and swords to entertain all the restless children. I always thought these people were just sad creeps who had flunked out of clown school. Until today… when Rie Hosokai, aka Daisy Balloon was brought to my attention. She doesn’t make dogs, hats, or any of that. Diss miss is best known for fashioning haute couture dresses, a true master in the balloon art community—surprisingly, there is such a thing!

Intrigued? and In Japan? Perfect! Daisy is having a solo exhibition showing new work under the direction of her reoccurring partner Takashi Kawada (kotenhits) at the lounge Sunday Issue (Shibuya) running August 21st to September 5th.

Sunday Issue
Tue – Fri : 13:00 – 24:00
Sat, Sun : 12:00 – 19:00
Mon : Closed

Thank you Pecha Kucha for showing me stereotypes ain’t shit. Once again… Even if it is …a balloon boy….

Converse x Missoni Collaboration

Missoni knitwear is known for its multitude of patterns such as stripes, geometrics, and abstract florals, in a kaleidoscope of colours.  They are also known for the liberal use of many different fabrics such as wool, cotton, linen, rayon and silk.

Aside from the main Missoni line, the company has diversified into a variety of luxury goods.  M Missoni is a less expensive line introduced over 10 years ago, Missoni Home collection which produces beautiful furnishing fabrics, as well as Missoni perfume, which is now held by Estee luder.  Missoni has also started a lifestyle hotel chain, with plans to have 30 hotels open by 2012.

Now Missoni tried something different by collaborating with Converse. These Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star sneakers have Missoni prints with leather tongues. And at $200 a pair, they’re much more affordable than most Missoni pieces.

I love Missoni patterns, although on converse…. meh!

R.T.W. Roadkill

Shout out to Los Angeles born Reid Peppard for creating some “Ready-To-Wear Road Kill”…. Reid Peppard recycles dead animals for fashion to say the least.

Reid is a London based taxidermist and jewelry designer who has recently opened her works up on the interweb early last month…  She’s pretty amazing in her use of dead animals; how to wear it on your person, how to display it on your living room wall, how to dress it up with a fancy outfit for photos, etc….

Reid has to be friends with homegirl Iris…. a collaboration with these 2 would be amazing…..
